Ignacio Díaz de Aguilar Cantero.

Graduate in Law, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Diploma in European Higher Studies, College of Europe in Bruges. A practising lawyer since 1982, he was the chairman of the firm LLoréns & Díaz de Aguilar for six years.
He has advised the Canary Islands Government on the creation of the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC) and on the reform of the Statute of Autonomy of the Canary Islands, and is responsible for the drafting of the Territorial Plan for Tourism Management of Gran Canaria.
Until September 2008, he was the Chairman of the Spanish Refugee Aid Commission (CEAR). He was a member of the team who drafted the Canary Islands Law of Co-operation in Matters of Development. Presently he is a trustee of Fundación ECCA and of Fundación CEAR.
He has acted before all the Spanish court instances as well as before the European Tribunal of Human Rights and the Inter-American Human Rights Committee and is a member of the Executive Committee of the European Council for Refugees and Exiles.
